Printed posters are still very relevant in this digital age. Many school offices and college campuses have dedicated space on walls for hanging up posters to keep people informed of events. Every blockbuster movie still launches with a poster designed to drum up attention and interest. What concert would be complete without an amazing poster design blanketing towns where a tour is soon to strike? This is just some evidence that it is highly unlikely that posters will be "going out of style" any time soon. Even on our digital devices, such as tablets, phones, and laptops, there are apps and new technologies that help us to create these very posters. Even if the poster was placed on the digital screen, it does not have anywhere near the impact as if it was printed to actual size to view, and even today, these new technologies makes it very inexpensive to create printed posters. Even so, the images that flash across the screen do not hold as much intrinsic value. Even if you mount a nice display at a rotated angle to imitate the size and proportions of a printed poster and display the same artwork and information on that screen that you would on a printed poster, it’s not the same. One other factor may be simply because posters are made of paper and hence can be destroyed giving it more value. It is printed for one reason and that is to advertise. Posters will always be cool and important even as everything becomes more digitally enhanced. Just like great paintings like the Mona Lisa have not been replaced by the camera, it will be the same case with posters.
